Ever watched an under the sea movie and imagined who was behind it? That person was man from France Jacques Yves Cousteau (1910-1997). He had a number of occupations during his life, among other naval officer, explorer, ecologist, filmmaker, and scientist who studied the sea and all forms of life in water. He also co-developed the aqua-lung project.
When he was in the Navy, he carried out his first under water experiments wearing underwater goggles, predeccessors of the modern diving mask lent by his friend, Philippe Tailliez.
During the 1940s Cousteau developed the design o aqua-lung into the open circuit scuba technology that we use today.
